Random Acts of Kindness Day

Tisha Lwin, A&E Editor

National Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated on February 17 and encourages everyone to perform acts of kindness. An act of kindness can be as small as picking up someone’s papers to as big as donating your savings to charity. These do not only help the receiver, but are a positive experience for the giver as well. If you are stuck on what you could do, here are some easy ideas:

  1. Fill friends’ water bottles
  2. Stop and talk to a homeless person
  3. Bring extra food to school for your friends and classmates
  4. Cook dinner for your family to give your Mom/Dad a day off
  5. Call your grandparents and update them about your life
  6. Smile at strangers
  7. Keep extra food in your car to hand out to the homeless
  8. Pick up any trash you see
  9. Compliment random strangers
  10. Pay for the person behind you in the drive-through
  11. Put in a special intention for someone in your life who is sick
  12. Donate some of your clothes or other belongings
  13. Let someone go in front of you in line
  14. Help your friends with homework/studying
