Dear Nano,

As you know, Valentine’s Day is coming up. As much fun as Galentine’s Day is, it only lasts 24 hours and then my friends begin their harping about their boyfriends, “how romantic” they are and what they planned for Valentine’s Day. Then my friends get mad at me for being bitter! How am I supposed to not be bitter around this holiday that is geared towards couples?

Sincerely,

Loveless Lucy

Dear Loveless Lucy,

Valentine’s Day, shmalentine’s day. I understand that not having a boyfriend may seem like the end of the world, but believe me it isn’t. To avoid feeling blue about not having a beau, find something fun to do! Whether it is on Valentine’s Day or any other day of the year, a fun hobby or activity can be a fun way to take your mind off of it. In regards to your annoying friends who keep talking about their S.O. (S.O. stands for significant other…I just learned this one!), just let them talk. All they want is to share their love with the world, even if the world doesn’t want them to. Just remember that your time will come eventually and you want your friends to be as excited for you as you should be for them.

Love,

Nano

————————————–

Dear Nano,

I am about to tear my hair out! I finally submitted my last college application, but I have only heard back from one of my schools. I chose not to brag on Facebook about it, because, why would I feel the need to share my life story with people I don’t really talk to? But every time I log onto my Facebook, there are always more posts about where Perfect Penny got into this time. I get that she is very excited about the schools she is being accepted to, but I am annoyed because WHO CARES?! I am nervous enough as is because I don’t know where I am going to school yet, but when people keep posting every single school they get into… it makes me antsy. Should I talk to someone? Like a college counsellor or something?

Sincerely,

College-Crazed Cathy

Dear College-Crazed Cathy,

Do not do anything drastic just yet. It is only February, so you will find out where you are going to college very soon. Have your college counselors told you not to post about every acceptance you receive? If yes, then maybe you should bring it to their attention because maybe other students are feeling just as uncomfortable as you. My biggest advice for you right now is relax. I know that the college process feels like it is taking forever, but it will all be over soon. Just chill and enjoy the rest of your senior year. Don’t get caught up in anyone else’s drama because it isn’t worth it. Just do you!

Hope this helps,

Nano
