If you’ve paid any attention to the buzz on campus this year, you would be well aware that the DECA club has been accomplishing major success in competitions at both the regional and state levels.

This year, 23 girls from Pres DECA attended the State Career Development Conference in Anaheim, CA. According to DECA officer Alison Pham, 13 girls have placed in their events at DECA’s regional and state competitions. “Many students have improved in their previous success to achieve even more, greater wins this year, with more girls qualifying in the top ten and even top three of their events,” said Pham.

In total, four Pres girls have qualified for the international competition in Atlanta, GA, and of those, seniors Teja Bhyravabhotla and Kripa Sitaraman, who placed second in the Business Law and Ethics Team Decision Making at the DECA State Conference, are actually choosing to attend. “These successes are attributed to the dedication of our members as well as the help of our resources and workshops,” Pham said in an email interview.

DECA members plan to keep up their momentum and continue to improve their program. According to Pham, Pres DECA plans on obtaining more business resources and more professionals to speak at workshops to better educate its members. DECA also plans to improve its fundraising so girls can go onto competitions regardless of finances.
The officers and members of Pres DECA plan to finish out the year by continuing their training and preparation for next year’s competitions. With further preparation and experience, Pres DECA members may even continue their winning streak and experience even greater competitive success in the future.
