Chinese New Year is upon us! February 8 brings in the new lunar year, and 2016 is the year of the monkey. What’s in store for each of our classes?

1997- Year of the Ox

Your special quality is industriousness, but remember, “Industriousness without wisdom leads to futility.” Your work ethic will take you far this year, so buckle down this semester and get that homework done the day it’s assigned.  Just remember to take a step back every once in awhile and make sure you’re being efficient.  Don’t want to let all that hard work go to waste!

1998- Year of the Tiger

Your special characteristic is valor, but “Valor without caution leads to recklessness.” It’s time to put that daredevil attitude to good use — take a risk in 2016 (whether it be with a summer job or visiting a brand new country) because it’s sure to pay off!  Just remember to look twice before you leap.

1999- Year of the Rabbit

Your special virtue is caution, and of course “Caution without valor leads to cowardice.” You might be known for your careful demeanor or thoughtful disposition. Put that discerning presence to good use in 2016. Thinking twice before making any rash decisions could be your saving grace. Just remember to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new.. after thinking it over, of course.

2000- Year of the Dragon

Your special quality is strength, but “Strength without flexibility leads to fracture.” Let your strong personality lead the way this year. Don’t be afraid to take the lead on a project or a presentation. Just remember that compromising doesn’t always mean giving in — sometimes it’s even the best thing you can do for a group.

2001- Year of the Snake

Your special characteristic is flexibility, the opposite of dragon’s, so it makes sense that  “Flexibility without strength leads to compromise.” You might think of yourself as someone who’s always making accommodations for other people, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. But you have good ideas! You have something to say! Make 2016 the year that you make your voice heard, too, and you could find yourself living with the best of both worlds.
